Add option to Pause and Resume events during task breaks

Sometimes I need to take a short break during a task—whether it's for a quick call, a bio break, or a mental refresh. Currently, there is no option to pause an event in Yappa and then resume it upon returning to the task. Adding a “Pause” and “Resume” feature would be helpful for accurately tracking time spent on each task and managing unexpected interruptions without ending the event prematurely.

    I’m really glad you brought this up because it’s been on my radar for a while now.

    I do have to ask you a couple more questions about it:

    Currently, one event (calendar or manual time tracking) is a contiguous block on your calendar. This feature will break away from that, but it would be good to understand how.

    Let’s take an example:

    • you start a manual time tracking event at 12PM and name it “Doing work”

    • you pause it at 12:50PM

    • you resume it at 1PM

    • you stop it at 3PM

    What do you expect to see in your calendar? My gut feel is that the only option that make sense is:

    • One time tracking event from 12PM to 12:50PM named “Doing work”

    • One time tracking event from 1PM to 3PM also named “Doing work”

    Now, should those two events, although displayed independently, still be linked together? If, for example, you click on the first event (the one from 12PM to 12:50PM) and assign it to a Project, would you want the other one (from 1PM to 3PM) to also be paired to that Project? Would you like to have the option to decide, link/unlink them?

      That makes perfect sense. Even if the events are displayed independently, I’d like them to be automatically paired when assigning either one to a Project. Since both events are part of the same activity, it’s logical they’d belong to the same project.

      Adding an option to link/unlink doesn’t seem necessary, as these events represent a single task within the same Project. Including a link/unlink feature might also make the interface more complex and add extra steps, without much added value in this specific context.
